I played when the game went from China’s open beta to about two months after official English launch before I quit at level 40. I used to play World of Warcraft for two years. I’ve been told quite often that Aion is like Lineage 2 and World of Warcraft combined but leans a bit more towards the former. The game is aesthetically beautiful. The first 15 levels were a joy to play but past that, and especially past level 20, the game becomes grind happy and the quests become extremely repetitive. If you play on a high population server, prepare to be ganked all the time. You can basically only grind and level in groups and parties. In fact, a popular adage in Aion is “you don’t grind monsters in Aion, players grind you.” It was quite accurate. There are also areas with elite monsters which require a party to take down. Some are in instances; some are not. For those that weren’t, “grief trains” were quite common where other players would pull mobs that would cleave into your party to kill you for fun. Whole lotta trolling.Crafting was somewhat interesting. You would have a success/fail bar that would increase. If the success bar filled up, you get an item. If not, you get basically nothing. Occasionally, some items can also “proc” past success if you’re lucky and turn into a more rare, higher quality item which can sell for a decent amount. Unfortunately, it also tended to be a huge money sink, took forever to level, and took forever to craft anything of note since the same success/fail bar would have to be filled about 300x times to manufacture a level 40 weapon (due to crafting the necessary reagents required for the final item). At end game at level 50, all you do is PVP and occasionally do an instance or two. All of my friends who started playing Aion the same time as I did (and progressed further) have all quit. It’s not that great of a game. I was pretty disappointed after all the hype.

I play Aion, and haven’t had any problems. Perhaps the new update patch didn’t properly install on your PC.Make sure that the latest patch which became available on the 2nd, is properly installed.

You can try Wizard101 It is a kids game but adults play it aswell it is about wizardry and using card spells, it is fun and good and most people get into it. I used to play it and loved it and most people will be friendly on it [some not so much] but you should try it!

I’m pretty sure there are some Private Servers up, but I am unsure which ones to trust. Your best bet is probably to google it and see what you think is the most trustworthy…

you can try to delete the Gameguard folder a few times (Aion/bin32/Gameguard).. that helps at some people. but people from Aion said the problems would be fixed when open beta goes life.. don’t worry
